London Fashion Week is Not F*cking Dead
EMV isn't the be all and end all, and it's not what LFW is all about.
The news circulating around LFW has been extremely frustrating, and whilst some things will never be perfect, the online discourse and pile-on has been somewhat misguided. Or just lazy and dumb.
I’ve attended every season of LFW for the best part of a decade now, so let me give you an insight into what I think the value and appreciation around LFW should be. The context here is that in the weird gap between the NYFW shows and the shows beginning in London, BoF posted an insight into the attention around the different cities. “All Eyes on Paris”, showed the “Earned media value” from the big 4 fashion cities, with Paris way out ahead, and London trailing far behind even New York Fashion week. This then spiralled into conversations around the death of LFW, comparing it with the highly anticipated, celebrity-filled shows in Milan and Paris. But London is not comparable to this, and never really has been.
